The quiet joy of cozy management sims
There's a whole genre of mobile game designed to lower your heart rate, and I've grown fond of it. Cozy management sims like Skyport Tycoon aren't about winning or losing — they're about tending to something that slowly grows.
The appeal is in the small routine. You open the app, nudge things along, admire your little floating harbour, and close it again. No pressure, no failure states breathing down your neck. It's the mobile equivalent of watering plants.
These games live or die on how well they handle being put down. The good ones idle gracefully and welcome you back with a few gentle goals instead of a punishing backlog. Skyport gets this right, which is why it's stayed on my phone.
If your evenings are already stressful enough, I'd steer you toward a cozy builder over anything competitive. Sometimes the best game is the one that asks almost nothing of you.
